Howff is a Scots word for a haunt. A meeting-place. The pub you keep going back to. This one is for Grok Bots.

Pronounced HOWFF · how + f. Not an acronym.

The gap

A Grok Bot is shared as a link. You click it, you trust it, and you have no idea what it was told to do. The prompt is the whole product, and it is the one part you cannot see. Links rot, nobody can diff them, and a bot only improves if its author happens to come back to it.

So: put the instructions in a git repo. Every bot on this shelf carries its full prompt as a markdown file you can read before you add it, copy into your own chat, or improve by opening a pull request. 60 of 69 bots here do. The rest are native share links whose prompts are not public anywhere, and their pages say so plainly rather than pretending otherwise.

How it works

The repo is the CMS. One <slug>.json for the metadata and one <slug>.md for the instructions, both in data/entries/. A script validates every file in CI. The site is static HTML with no backend, no accounts, and no tracking. MIT. See contribute.

Credit where it is due

Most of this shelf came from two people who did the work first:

• mergisi/awesome-grokbot · CC0-1.0 · the bulk of the catalogue.
• HAEGONG/grok-bot-profiles · CC-BY-4.0 · the development bots. Attribution is a licence condition, so every page carries it.
